SCHEME ENTRUSTED TO MR J. W. MAWSON (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 1. The Minister of Internal Affairs (the Hon. W E. Parry) announced today that the preparation of the Hutt Valley development scheme had been entrusted to Mr J. W. Mawson, Government town-planning officer, in, co-operation with local authorities and the State departments concerned. The whole cost would be born by the Government. The decision to instruct Mr Mawson to undertake the drawing up oi the scheme is in view of the vital importance and urgency of some of the problems awaiting solution in the valley, particularly housing and drainage problems and the possibility of serious delays in setting up a planning organization.
