COUSIN BETTY’S LETTER
My dear Cousins,
How would you like to have a Bazaar this year? That seems to be the best suggestion that has come from my Little Southlanders, and we have not had a bazaar since the one held in connection with the King and Queen Carnival in 1936. It does not really seem that long, but it is almost three years ago, and time for another one. Most of my cousins are enthusiastic, but before we decide finally, I would like to hear what my other cousins, especially those living in the country districts, think of the idea. Each clan would more than likely have a stall, or if some of the members think their clans are too small, two or three could combine and have a stall between them.,
I have had all sorts of bright ideas sent in for the stalls. Some suggest that the Stallholders should represent characters from books and some think each clan should decorate the stall in its own colours. Then one cousin says we could have a “shilling stall,” or a “Jack Frost stall,” at which there would be things to keep you warm in the winter. What other ideas have you?
Next week we are having our special Easter Chronicle, and I am expecting to see lots of Easter entries. Have you written a poem for the Original Verse column? See if we can make this page even better than the one we had last year.
Have you forgotten the Hospital Fund, my cousins? This fund consists of pennies which have been sent by Little Southlanders on their birthdays, and at the end of the year we take all these pennies and buy presents for the sick people in hospital. Time is flying and soon it will be Christmas again, and we will be paying our annual visit to Kew with Father Christmas. So remember the hospital on your birthday, cousins of mine. Your loving
