FROZEN MEAT STORES CONGESTED

NEW PLYMOUTH APPEAL TO MR NASH (United Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, March 29. Emphasizing the need for prompt action to relieve the congestion of frozen meat in the stores at New Plymouth and Waitara, Mr F. L. Frost, M.P., communicated with the Minister of Marketing (the Hon. W. Nash) tonight asking for a diversion of shipping to New Plymouth. Mr Nash promised to make investigations and to communicate the result to Mr Frost tomorrow morning. It is feared that unless it is possible to relieve congestion, several men at the Waitara freezing works will have to be paid off in the meantime. RENEWAL OF FREIGHT CONTRACT DISCUSSIONS OPENED IN WELLINGTON (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 29. Discussions for renewal of the freight contract for the shipment of New Zealand refrigerated produce opened in Wellington today. The Minister of Marketing (the Hon. W. Nash) greeted the visiting heads of shipping companies and opened the proceedings on behalf of the Government and the producers’ boards. Mr John MacMillan, managing director of the Shaw Savill and Albion Company, replied bn behalf of the shipping companies, and after a discussion of general considerations the meeting was adjourned till tomorrow morning.
