Temperatures Rising (Special to The Times) WELLINGTON, March 29. Following is the special weather forecast for Southland by the meteorological office, Wellington:— Moderate south-west to westerly winds turning northerly and later freshening. Weather fine at first, but later clouding over in the western ranges and showers developing. Temperatures rising. Seas moderate. Following is the Dominion forecast:— A few scattered and mainly light showers at first, principally between Kaikoura and East Cape, but improving and becoming fine almost generally tomorrow. Temperatures cold, with some frosts in the South Island. General Situation.—An anti-cyclone is now moving from the Tasman Sea on to New Zealand. The pressure is falling over south-eastern Australia. Winds.—South-west to southerly, moderate to strong generally and reaching gale force at first in places about and north of Cook Strait, but gradually Seas.—New Zealand waters, rough north of Farewell Spit and between Akaroa and East Cape, but moderating gradually, elsewhere moderate; eastern Tasman Sea, moderate to strong southerly winds, decreasing gradually and later turning to north-wept in the southern portions. Seas rough but moderating in the central and northern portions, elsewhere moderate. The weather in Invercargill yesterday was cold and windy. At one o’clock this morning the weather was calm and mild. The barometer readings for the past three mornings have been as follows: This morning (rising) 29.81 in. Wednesday 29,51 in. Tuesday 29.63 in.
