Dogs in Cars
Attention was drawn by Mr H. Lawson (Wairarapa) at the half-yearly conference of the North Island Motor Union at Wellington to what he described as the inhuman manner in which some people carried dogs in motor-cars. He had noticed it in the Wairarapa, he said, and referred to the case of a sheep farmer who, after travelling a distance and being about town, went to the box at the back of his car and when he opened it out jumped two sheep dogs. He suggested that something should be done about practices of that kind. It was decided to make representations to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
