TRACK WORK AT RICCARTON

OAMARU HORSES IN ACTION (Special to The Times) CHRISTCHURCH, March 21. The only work of interest at Riccarton today was that of horses to race at Oamaru this week and because of several of these having had a race at Waimate the number of gallops was restricted. The outside of the course proper was thrown open but all of the work mentioned was on the plough. Rebel Queen covered seven furlongs in Imin 31sec, the first four in 49sec. Rebel Queen, who won at her last start the Highweight event at Motukaraka, must he again seriously considered under similar conditions at Oamaru. Ferriby beat Swingtime over five furlongs in Imin 4sec. His win at Waimate made him ineligible' for the Trial Stakes on Thursday, but he is engaged in the Windsor Hack Handicap, of seven furlongs, in which he should be seen to advantage. Nightcalm went well in galloping six furlongs in Imin 16sec. He is to make his reappearance at Oamaru, but will probably be in need of some racing. Cocksure had a slight advantage from Kilrobe and Dictate at the end of five furlongs in Imin 2sec. Cocksure shaped very encouragingly. REBEL CHIEF WELL Rebel Chief beat Palmyra over five furlongs in Imin 3 3-ssec. He is very well just now and should race prominently this week. Lady Middleham finished in front of Nolana at the end of five furlongs in Imin 3 l-ssec, the last three in 38sec. Real Lady easily accounted for Shangri La over five furlongs in Imm 4 l-ssec. The former" will not be racing at Oamaru, but will be kept for Westport. Parquet and The Sandwichman strode over' six furlongs in Imin 16 l-ssec. The former is likely to be in keen demand for the Oamaru Cup. Gay Hussar and Skyrena reeled off five furlongs in Imin 4sec. . Recollection jumped four hurdles at a fast pace and should be in excellent order for Easter racing. Some riding engagements made for Thursday are: C. T. Wilson—Asset, Petersham, Nolana, Rebel Chief. A. E. Ellis—Dictate, Cocksure, Master Dingle, Crack o’ Dawn. A. Leach —Teak. L. Johnston —Elmarch. G. Ridgway—Supreme Court. C. Stokes —Golden Chest. A. Stokes—Ferriby, Parquet, Kilrobe. J.
