The Minister of Public .Works (the Hon. R. Semple) arrived in Dunedin yesterday afternoon from Christchurch, accompanied by the Engineer-in-Chief of the Public Works Department, Mr J. Wood.—Press Association. The Hon. Adam- Hamilton, Leader of the Opposition, will leave by the express this morning for Gisborne. He will visit a number of centres in the Waikato before returning to Invercargill on April 1. Mr G. P. Aldridge, secretary of the New Zealand Boxing Association, Wellington, was a visitor to Invercargill yesterday. Mr A. J. Dean, president of the ExRoyal Naval Men’s Association, who paid a visit to Invercargill at the weekend, has returned to Dunedin. Sir Bruce Bruce-Porter, who is at present visiting Dunedin, is prominently connected with the Order of St. John and the Red Cross Society in England. He studied medicine and surgery in his youth, approaching the subjects from the military angle, and gained many distinctions in this particular branch of work. He was created a Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1919.
