N.Z. INSTITUTION OF ENGINEERS
SOUTHLAND BRANCH HOLDS ANNUAL MEETING
There was a good attendance at the annual meeting of the Southland branch of the New Zealand Institution of Engineers. Mr J. G. C. Baker presided.
The annual report showed that 1938 had been a most successful year, six meetings having been held at which papers of a high standard had been presented by local members. An interchange of visits with the Otago branch had also been made and was much appreciated. The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mr G. R. Milward; executive, Messrs F. M. Corkill and E. L. Robinson; hon. auditor, Mr G. D. Aschman; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr J. B. Rowntree. The retiring president, Mr Baker, gave an interesting address on the position and responsibilities of the engineer in the life of the community. A short paper, “Notes on Irrigation,” forwarded by the Otago branch, was read to the meeting by Mr Milward. nsHfi....etao Btoflteaoti shrdl mfw fwy—
