The appointment of Mr S. A. Gilmour as a Stipendiary Magistrate for the purposes of Section 4 of the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Amendment Act, 1937 was officially announced in a Gazette notice last evening.—Press Association.
Dr N. E. Merrington returned to Dunedin on Wednesday after a six weeks’ holiday visit to Sydney. Colonel P. H. Bell, D. 5.0., N.Z.S.C., arrived in Dunedin on Wednesday from the north, and during his visit will inspect the 12th Battery, which is at present in camp at Sutton.
According to a Gazette notice, Mr P. Kearins and Mr H. M. Christie have been appointed members of the Board of Governors of Massey Agricultural College.—Press Association. K Mr D. B. Mansergh, engineer for the Candy Filtration Plant Company, of Auckland, is visiting Invercargill. Mr F. A. Garry and Mr T Kane (North Island) and Mr W. F. Abel and Mr G. Polson (South Island) have been appointed members of the Teachers Superannuation Board, according to a Gazette notice last evening.—Press Association.
The appointment of Mr W. G. McClymont, a teacher at the Otago Boys’ High School, as a member of the National Council fo Physical Welfare and Recreation is announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs (the Hon. W. E, Parry). Mr McClymont fills the position vacated by Dr C. E. Hercus. dean of the Medical Faculty of the Otago University, who is leaving for England.—Press Association.
