GORE CRICKET

EASTERN SOUTHLAND COMPETITION The Eastern Southland senior grade cricket competition will finish tomorrow when the final matches of the second round of the competition will be played. After this, the games postponed earlier in the season will be played. Most interest in tomorrow's games will be taken in the match between the old rivals, Gore and Celtic. The two teams have already met once this season, and on that occasion Celtic narrowly averted defeat, the match resulting in a draw. Tomorrow’s fixtures are as follows:—Gore v. Celtic at Gore No. 1; Heriot-Edievale v. Tapanui at Tapanui; Wyndham v Pukerau at Wyndham; Mataura v. Waikoikoi at Waikoikoi. Because of the closeness of the competition it will be nfccessary to play all postponed matches before the winning team can be decided. The following matches have yet to be played: Gore v. Mataura at Mataura; Gore v. Heriot-Edievale at Heriot; Mataura v. Pukerau at Pukerau; Waikoikoi V. Tapanui at Waikoikoi; Waikoikoi v. Heriot-Edievale at Heriot. I JUNIOR GRADE The draw for the remaining matches in the junior grade competition is as follows:— February 11.—Wyndham v. Knapdale at Knapdale; Mataura v. Gore High School 1 at Gore No. 1; Gore High School 2 v. Celtic at Gore No. 3. , February 25.—Wyndham v. Gore High School 2 at Gore No. 2; Gore High School 1 v. Knapdale at Gore No. 1; Celtic v. Mataura at Mataura. March 4.—Wyndham v. Celtic at Wyndham; Gore High School 1 v. Gore High School 2 at Gore No. 2; Knapdale v. Mataura at Mataura. GOLF Members of the Gore Summer Golf Club participated in a stroke match over 11 holes on the Croydon links under fair conditions. The match was won by J. F. Churstain, who returned a card of 57-12-45. M. S. Tansley and L. G. Thomson were second equal, their respective cards being 52-3-49 and 54-5-49.
