Fair to Fine (Special to The Times) WELLINGTON, February 5. . Following is the special weather forecast for Southland, issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington:— Light to moderate and variable winds. Weather fair to fine and mild, Seas slight Following is the Dominion forecast:— Weather mainly fair to fine over the South Island; dull and unsettled over the North Island, with mist or fog in places and rain at times, but more especially in northern and eastern areas where some heavy falls are possible. Temperatures mild to warm. General Situation.—A depression of moderate intensity is centred in the vicinity of Cape Mana Van Diemen, while an anticyclone extends from south-eastern Australia across the Southern Tasman.
Winds.—Between north-east and south-east predominating, mainly light to moderate in force but later freshening about and north of Cook Strait. Seas.—New Zealand waters, moderate to rather rough north of East Cape; elsewhere slight to moderate, but later rising about Cook Strait and north of Farewell Spit. Eastern Tasman, southerly winds strong to gale force at first in the northern portion with very rough seas. Light to fresh in the southern portion'with slight to moderate seas.
