“ANTI-SNOB” BALL AT WIMBLEDON

DISTINGUISHED PERSONS PRESENT (Received January 14, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, January 13. One thousand guests attended a shilling “anti-snob” ball arranged by the Mayor of Wimbledon in the Town Hall. The men wore day clothes and the women afternoon dresses. A number of distinguished persons, including Sir Harry Twyford, a former Lord Mayor of London, attended. The Mayor declared that the object of the ball was to enable citizens to enjoy the facilities of their civic building, from which they were previously excluded because of the high price of charity functions.
