LISBON AIR SERVICE POSTPONED

FLYING OVER NATIONALIST SPAIN NOT ALLOWED

v LONDON, January 13. British Airways announce that the reason for the postponement of the London-Lisbon air service, which was started on January 2, is General Franco’s refusal to allow the machines to fly i over Nationalist Spain. General Franco’s refusal to permit the aeroplanes to fly over Spain, it is stated, is based on the ground that this right cannot be extended to countries which have refused his Government full diplomatic privileges. During the recent survey flight by British Airways every courtesy and assistance was extended by General Franco’s authorities and the decision now announced has caused surprise and some disappointment.
