MONEY AND MARKETS

INQUIRY FOR INDUSTRIAL SHARES ON INVERCARGILL EXCHANGE

There was little life in the bond market on the Invercargill Stock Exchange yesterday. Banks were unchanged. New Zealands had sellers at 40/3, Commercials were offered at 16/4, and Unions at £8 14/-. Industrials had steady inquiry, Australian Glass touching higher levels with buyers at £5 12/-. The mining section was quiet.

Quotations were as follows:— GOVERNMENT DEBENTURES Buyers Sellers £ s a £ s d Stock, 3J p.c., 1939-43 97 5 0 Stock, 4 p.c., 1943-46 98 L0 0 Bonds, 4 p.c., 1943-46 98 10 0 Stock, 4 p.c., 1946-49 97 15 0 Bonds, 4 p.c., 1946-49 97 15 0 BANKS Commercial 0 16 4 National of New Zealand 2 10 0 New South Wales 30 5 0 — New Zealand 2 0 3 Union of Australia 8 14 0 BREWERIES Dominion Brewery 1 10 0 — N.Z.
