DIET CHART FOR SUMMER

Provision For Eighteen Days

Of all the dieting charts ever issued, the 18-day diet has been the most popular. In view of the increased knowledge of foodstuffs, this diet was recently revised. It is presented below. Not only is it slimming in action, but it is also health-giving; if you follow it during the summer months only good can result. As much orange juice as is possible should be drunk during the day, and if at any time you feel extremely hungry, then by all means allay the pangs with a thin piece of bread and butter or some fruit. Be guided by your own feeling in this matter, as it is never wise to become too hungry while dieting. At the close of the 18 days, weigh yourself, and if you have not reduced

sufficiently, and you care to extend the diet, then by all do so, at the same time adding slightly to the amounts of food, but not to the variety.

First Day ' Breakfast: Weak tea. Dry toast thinly buttered. One apple. Lunch: Half a grapefruit, one egg, one slice of Melba toast, six slices cucumber. Tea or coffee. Dinner: Two eggs, one tomato, half a head of lettuce, half a grapefruit. Second Day

Breakfast: Weak tea. Dry toast with butter. Grapefruit. Lunch: Fish. Wheaten biscuits. Fresh fruit. Weak tea or coffee. Dinner: Plain grilled steak. One tomato, half a lettuce. Third Day

Breakfast: Weak tea. Dry toast with butter. One apple. Lunch: Half a grapefruit, one egg, lettuce, cucumber. Weak tea or coffee. Dinner: One lamb chop (no fat), one egg, half a grapefruit, lettuce. Weak tea or coffee. Fourth Day

Breakfast: Weak tea. One breakfast cereal biscuit. Lunch: One tomato, one slice of thin toast, half a grapefruit. Weak tea or coffee. Dinner: Grilled steak, half a grapefruit, vegetables. Weak tea or coffee.

Fifth Day Breakfast: Weak tea. Boiled egg, dry toast. Lunch: Orange, lettuce, one lamb chop. Weak tea. Dinner: Half a grapefruit, two eggs, lettuce, tomato. Weak tea.

Sixth Day Breakfast: Weak tea. Cereal, one apple. Lunch: Vegetable soup, one orange. Weak tea. Dinner: One poached egg, one orange, one slice of toast. Tea.

Seventh Day Breakfast: Stewed prunes, brown

bread and butter. Coffee. Lunch: Cream soup, fruit salad, one slice of bread, butter and honey. Weak tea. Dinner: Tomato juice, roast veal, carrots, and one potato, pineapple. Weak tea.

Eighth Day Breakfast: Two oranges, toast and butter. Coffee. Lunch: Stewed dried peaches or apricots with junket. Weak tea. Dinner: Two eggs, half a grapefruit, spinach, asparagus. Weak tea.

Ninth Day Breakfast: Weak tea. Boiled egg, dry toast. Lunch: Consomme with rusks. Vegetable salad, comprising tomato, beetroot and lettuce. Weak tea. Dinner: Celery soup, one small chop with cabbage or cauliflower, stewed figs. Coffee.

Tenth Day , . Breakfast: Two peaches, or apples or oranges. Brown bread and butter. Weak tea. Lunch: Celery, brown bread and butter, cheese straws. Coffee. Dinner: Lentil soup, French beans, big potato baked in skin, nuts and raisins.

Eleventh Day Breakfast: Weak tea. Dried toast with butter. Grapefruit. Lunch: As much fresh fruit as can be eaten. Weak tea. Dinner: Tomato soup, cold ham with lettuce and tomato, pudding, Coffee. Twelfth Day

Breakfast: Weak tea. Breakfast cereal with milk. One apple. Lunch: Vegetable soup, tomato salad, wheaten biscuits. Dinner: Thin soup, lean boiled beef with carrots and turnips, baked egg custard. Coffee.

Thirteenth Day Breakfast: Weak tea. Dry toast thinly buttered; one apple. Lunch: Poached egg on spinach, fresh fruit served with thin cream. Dinner: Clear vegetable soup, boiled fish, lemon souffle. Coffee. Fourteenth Day Breakfast: Apple and banana, wheatmeal biscuits. Coffee. Lunch: Fresh plums, peaches and apples. Weak tea. Dinner: Tomato soup, mashed potatoes, pears with junket or cream. Coffee. Fifteenth Day Breakfast: Grapefruit, marmite sandwiches. Coffee. Lunch: One egg, half a grapefruit, one tomato, one slice of toast. Tea. Dinner: Two chops, with half a teaspoonful of tomato catsup. One slice of toast, half a grapefruit. Sixteenth Day Breakfast: Weak tea. Breakfast cereal, grapefruit. Lunch: Same as fifteenth day. Dinner: Same as fifteenth day. Seventeenth Day Breakfast: As much of any kind of fruit as desired. Weak tea. Lunch: One chop, grapefruit, lettuce. Dinner: Grilled steak, tomato, celery, olives. Coffee. Eighteenth Day Breakfast: Weak tea. Toast with butter, grapefruit. Lunch: One egg, two tomatoes, orange. Coffee. Dinner: One grilled fish, half a grapefruit, plain spinach. Coffee.
