RIFLE SHOOTING

MOSSBURN DEFENCE CLUB GOOD SCORING IN BAD CONDITIONS • When the Mossburn Defence Rifle Club held its fortnightly shoot the weather was very squally and at one time it seemed that the shoot would have to be stopped. However, it cleared up sufficiently to allow the marksmen to continue.

The shoot was set down as oyer 600yds, 800yds and 900yds ranges, but it was not thought advisable to put the big targets up in the gale which was blowing. Considering the conditions the shooting was of quite a good standF. Clearwater was top man at 300 yards with 33, being followed by C. M. Dore with 32. At the club’s last shoot, both F. Clearwater and P. Mcßride put the seven shots into the bullseye at this range. At 500 yards, F. Clearwater was again top scorer with 33, being followed by C. M. Dore, K. Gallagher, J. Healy, T. Healy and S. Payne, all with 32. J. Healy was top scorer at 600 yards with 33, C. M. Dore again being second man with 32. F. Clearwater was leader for the day with' 97, being closely followed by C. M. Dore with 96; both very good scores under the conditions.
