WEDDING

STURGEON—COCHRANE A wedding of interest in Otago and Southland was solemnized in Knox Presbyterian Church, Dunedin, by the Rev. D. C. Herron, M.C.M.D., recently, when Catherine Cameron (Kitty), eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs R- G. Cochrane, of Sawyers Bay and formerly of Dipton, was married to Frank, third son of Mr and Mrs J. T. Sturgeon, St. Kilda, Dunedin. The bride, who entered the church with her father, wore a charming gown of white lace over satin, made in princess style, buttoned from the neckline in front, with long tight-fitting sleeves finishing in a point over the hands. The back of the frock fell to a full train from the waistline which was edged with satin-appliqued flowers. Her veil, which was lent by a friend, was arranged off the face and held in place by a cluster of orange blossom. She carried a bouquet of arum lilies, lily of the valley, rosebuds and heather, and her only ornament was a gold necklace which had been worn by her grandmother. Miss Winifred Cochrane attended her sister as bridesmaid, wearing a frock of cereal-gold lace over satin, made with a fully-flared skirt. Shirred bodice and bands of pleated tulle completed the neckline and outlined the shirring to the waistline. Her long-fitting sleeves finished in a point over the hand, and her shoes were of gold kid. She wore a coronet of petunias and cyclamen, and carried a bouquet of passion flowers, anemones and scabious in mauve tonings. The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Albert, as best man, and Kenneth Cochrane (brother of the bride), and Charles Sturgeon (brother of the groom) were ushers. On leaving the church the bridegroom was presented with a silver horseshoe by Peter Greenfield, nephew of the groom. The reception was held in the Astor Cafe where the guests were received by Mrs Cochrane, assisted by Mrs Sturgeon. Mrs Cochrane wore a smart navy ensemble with a navy bankok straw hat, and carried a bouquet of abutilons, azaleas and roses in apricot shades. Mrs Sturgeon’s frock was of navy embossed georgette, with a navy lace redingote, and she wore a navy hat with touches of pink. Her bouquet was of pink roses and sweet peas. For travelling, the bride chose a model frock of Hungarian lace with a motif in brown and beige tonings. She also wore a brown tailored coat and a brown lacquer halo hat. Before her marriage the bride was entertained at a gift afternoon by Mesdames Greenfield and Gamble. Mr and Mrs Frank Sturgeon will reside in Orbell street, Dahnore, Dunedin.

Dipton guests at the wedding were Mr and Mrs G. Buchanan; Mesdames M. Finlayson, J. C. Sparks and S. Brown (Balfour); Misses W. I. McCurdy, K. Shand, G. Stewart and Mr T. Elliott.
