RAILWAY CHARGES IN BRITAIN
PROPOSAL TO REPEAL REGULATION (British Official Wireless) (Received December 2, 5.5 p.m.) RUGBY, December 1. There will be a discussion next Thursday between the Minister of Transport (Dr Leslie Burgin) and the chairmen and general managers of the four main railway companies about the proposals of the companies for the repeal of the existing statutory regulation of charges for the conveyance of merchandise traffic by railway. Meanwhile, there was an informal discussion today between the general managers and officials at the Ministry of Transport.
