“MOST BEAUTIFUL HIGHWAY”

PLANS FOR ROUTE FROM AUCKLAND TO ROTORUA

(Special to The Times) AUCKLAND, December 2.

A suggestion that as a centennial memorial steps should be taken to make the highway between Auckland and Rotorua the most beautiful national highway in the Dominion was presented to a meeting of the executive of the Auckland Provincial Centennial Council by Mr W, R. Fee. He urged that the co-operation of all local bodies controlling districts through which the highway passed should be sought to that end. The formation of the highway to modern standards; he said, was now nearing completion and would not involve any big expenditure. The proposal was endorsed and it was decided to send a circular letter to the local authorities concerned inviting their cooperation and suggestions as to the most effective means of attaining the object outlined.
