TAMATEA RETURNS TO BLUFF

OVERHAUL NEXT WEEK AT PORT CHALMERS Good weather was met by the Tamatea on the journey to and from Milford Sound. Captain R. J. Hamilton, master of the vessel, states that the rata is not yet in bloom at the sound, but at this period last year the bush was a blaze of colour. The Tamatea brought several passengers to Bluff, including the hflhthouse keeper at Puysegur Point, Mr H. Newson, and Mrs Newson, who will spend a holiday on the mainland before returning by the Matai. A minor accident occurred at the sound when a woman who had just finished walking the track, slipped while stepping over a log and fell, breaking her arm. She was attended to at the sound and was brought to Bluff by the Tamatea. The Tamatea will make the usual connection with Stewart Island tomorrow. On Sunday she will sail, for Port Chalmers, when she will go into dock for her annual overhaul. It is expected that the ship will be absent for a week. During that time the ferry service between Bluff and Stewart Island will be maintained by the steamer Orewa, under Mr H. J. Roderique. The Orewa will run to the usual schedule.
