WELLINGTON, December 1. Following is the special weather forecast for Southland, issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington:— Light to moderate and variable winds. Weather cloudy and mild, with occasional rain. Seas slight
to moderate. Following is the Dominion forecast:— Weather for the most part fair to cloudy and warm, but rain probable in western and southern districts of the South Island. Some isolated local falls probable also in other districts. General Situation.—The pressure is relatively high to the north and northeast, while a depression covers the Tasman. An anti-cyclone is slowly approaching south-eastern Australia from the west Winds variable in the southern portion of the South Island, but otherwise northerlies to north-westerlies prevailing, force mainly light to moderate, but freshening about Cook Strait and in exposed positions elsewhere. Seas.—New Zealand waters, rather rough to rough about Cook Strait, elsewhere slight to moderate; eastern Tasman Sea, moderate to strong northerly winds prevailing; seas rather rough to rough.
