RECORD FLIGHT BY THE MERCURY
SOUTHAMPTON WATER TO ALEXANDRIA (Received December 1, 12.10 a.m.) ALEXANDRIA, November 30. The upper component of the pick-a-back aircraft, the Mercury, arrived at 6.22 a.m. after a record flight of 14hr 6min from Southampton. The Mercury was launched from the back of the flying-boat Maia over Southampton Water late yesterday afternoon on her first routine commercial flight with more than a ton of Christmas mail. She was expected to reach Alexandra at 6 a.m. today.
