THE WEATHER FAIR TO CLOUDY AND WARM
(Special to The Times) WELLINGTON, November 30. Following is the special weather forecast for Southland, issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington:— Light to moderate, but freshening north-east to north-west winds. Weather mainly fair to cloudy and warm, but scattered rains probable, with possibly some thunder and local downpours inland. peas slight to moderate, but rising. Following is the Dominion forecast:— Weather mainly fair, cloudy, warm and sultry, with mist or fog in places. Some scattered rains probable, more especially in western districts. Isolated thunderstorms and
local downpours likely also in parts
of the South Island. General Situation.—Pressure is relatively high and rather uniform over and to the east of New Zealand, while a depression covers the western Tasman. Winds.—North-east to north-west, light to moderate, but freshening, especially about and south of' Cook Strait.
Seas.—New Zealand waters, slight to moderate, but later rising somewhat about Cook Strait and the far south; eastern Tasman Sea, light to moderate, but freshening northerly winds, slight to moderate, but rising seas.
The weather in Invercargill yesterday was fine. The sun shone brightly throughout the day and the temperature was very warm.
At one o’clock this morning the weather was warm and fine, but the sky was overcast. The barometer readings for the last three mornings have been as follows:— This morning 29.80 in. Wednesday 29.78 in. Tuesday 29.86 in.
