ONE CAPITAL FOR NEW GUINEA AND PAPUA

CANBERRA, November 25.

The Assistant Minister of Territories, (Mr E. J. Harrison) announced in the House of Representatives that the Federal Government had decided to investigate a proposal that the territories of New Guinea and Papua should be administered from one capital, in Papua. Mr Harrison also stated that the Cabinet had decided that Salarnaua, the site originally chosen for the new capital of New Guinea, would be the temporary capital.
