WELLINGTON, November 25. Following is the special weather forecast for Southland, issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington:— Moderate south-easterly winds prevailing. Weather showery at first, but improving. Cool temperatures. Seas

moderate. Following is the Dominion forecast:— Weather fair to cloudy in northern and eastern districts of the North Island, elsewhere unsettled, with rain at times, heavy in places in central districts. Snow on the high levels of the South Island. Temperatures warm in the north, but a cold change advancing from the south. General situation.—An anti-cyclone is centred to the east of the North Island, while a deep trough of low pressure lies across Canterbury and extends north-westward over the Tasman Sea. Winds.—Moderate to strong in force generally, southerly over the southern half of the South Island, otherwise northerly, but southerlies or southeasterlies advancing to beyond Cook Strait. Seas—New Zealand waters, rough about Cook Strait and south of Cape Egmont, rising on the east coast of the South Island, otherwise moderate; eastern Tasman Sea, northerly to northwesterly winds in the central and northern portions, elsewhere southerly and southerlies or south-easterlies later becoming general, winds strong in the central portion, with rough confused seas, otherwise moderate in force, with moderate seas.

The weather in Invercargill yesterday was wet in the morning and fine in the afternoon. At one o’clock this morning the weather was fine and calm, though thu sky was’overcast.
