LANDING WHEEL OF PLANE COLLAPSES

AIR FORCE BAFFIN BOMBER (United Press Association) BLENHEIM, November 25. When one of the Baffin bombers belonging to the Wellington Territorial Squadron of the Royal New Zealand Air Force, which is encamped at the Blenheim aerodrome, was taxiing slowly out on to the flying field this morning before taking off for machine-gun practice at Lake Grassmere, one of the landing wheels collapsed. The big machine tipped forward, smashing the propeller and one of the lower wings. Pilot-Officer Smith, who was at the controls, was not injured. . An examination disclosed faults in the metal disk wheel. Repairs will be made at Blenheim after spare parts have been received from the Hobsonville base.
