Between Ourselves

Cousin Queen Mary: Thank you for the book. It is on one of the shelves of the library, -waiting for a Little Southlander to read it. Did the badge arrive during the week? Let me know when your mother is coming and I will have a book ready for her.

Cousin Grey Owl: What a busy time you will have with the printing set. Perhaps you could make a small newspaper of your own, like the ones sent to me from the country schools. How unfortunate you are, having the measles twice in one season.

Cousin Robin: When the holidays come you will be able to go down to the beach often to play. Have you found a name for the new black and white calf yet? The Christmas cards •will be wrapped up with the gifts for the patients in hospital.

Cousin Moonbeam: Can you remember for which competitions you entered, and the approximate dates? Yes, you may carry the marks from one year to another, and when you have 50 (excluding prize marks) there is a prize of 2/-. Are you doing any lessons while you are at hoip,e?

Cousin White Iris: Did you enjoy the social evening? How tired you would be next day. You will need to take things easily as school will be

tiring at first. It does not seem a year since you were in hospital, and I went to see you.

Cousin Pat: Yes, the books arrived safely, and some of them have been taken from the library by my cousins. Congratulations, you are one of the first Masters of Mind Sharpeners this year. Cousin Fairy Grass: I am glad your mother is better now. Did you help her the morning that.you stayed away from school? Mr Rain has been helping the flowers to grow, but he helped the weeds too! Cousin Captain Eyston: Michael is back again this week. He was sorry that he could not be in the Chronicle last Saturday. The phbtographs are being sent, and the ones of you will be pasted in our album of Little Southlanders.

Cousin Billy Huggins: Could you think of a new name I have forgotten what it is too. Are you going away for the Christmas holidays? Examinations will soon be ! over, and holidays will be here, before we know where we are.

Cousin Black Prince: Is this penname correct? It is such a long time since it was used that I had almost forgotten it. You are also entitled to a/prize of two shillings, which will arrive soon. Congratulations.

Cousin Florrie: Did you have a pet lamb ■ for the school club last year? Perhaps there will be one for you next season. Are you going away from home for the holidays? I wonder what Santa Claus will bring you this year. Cousin Polyanthus: This is the first time your pen-name has appeared in Between Ourselves. Do you like examinations? The stories about the dreams this week are quite amusing. What subjects do you like best? Cousin Wee Man: Christmas seems to be coming far too quickly, for there is so much to be done before we have the last Chronicle of the year. You wished for rain, and your wish was granted, my cousin.

Cousin Windsor Lass: I was so sorry to hear that your sister was ill again. Is she feeling better now? You must take great care of her and see that she is kept warm and cosy. Have you recovered from your fall?

Cousin Garden Girl: I do not think the typed letter could be any neater than your own printing. How many words can you type to the minute so far? My small cousin may carry her Art Club marks through to next year. She has done very well. 1 Cousin Sun Star: Have you forgotten your pen-name? Percy Pencil was feeling a little bit better this week, and he remembered it for you. Can you see the results of the competition in the Chronicle this week?

Cousin Peter the Pirate: Will it be your turn to ride the bicycle next week-end? Do you think you will be coming to town for Hospital Day this year? It seems a long time since I saw the cousins of the Mayflower Clan. Cousin Sweet Briar: The card is not the thickness you require, but. I will see what can be done about it. How early the strawberries are. Were -they grown in the open or under glass? I have not seen any in town yet. . ' Cousin Coronation Lassie: Do you have any of the -Milly Molly Mandy books for your school reading? I think the one in the library will be a popular story. It was sent just the other day by a Little Southlander who has given many books for the library. Copsin Buffalo Bill: You must have read quickly to finish the two books in one evening. Do you save the eggs for your own collection, or do you sell them? I hope that you did not cut youself badly, and that the wound will soon heal. ■ Cousin Little Grey Bunny: If you are still having examinations you will enjoy the stories in the Chronicle, this week. Do you ever dream after you have gone to bed? Cousin Water Lily: You forgot your pen-name this week, cousin of mine. If you send entries for all of the competitions you may reach the 50 marks by the end of the year. The last Chronicle before Christmas will appear on Saturday, December 17.
