GREYHOUND MAY NOT COME

CLUB OFFICIALS NOT ENTHUSIASTIC MANY DIFFICULTIES SEEN IN WAY (United Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, November 25. Greyhound, the worlds champion American trotter, is now not likely to make the trip to New Zealand for a series of match races, as officials of the principal trotting clubs in Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland do not view the project with the same enthusiasm as its sponsors and the Christchurch Citizens’ Committee. There is still a possibility that satisfactory arrangements may be made, but if an overseas visitor does come it is more likely to be the champion pacer, Billy Direct. The committee of the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club met to consider the matter last night and, while no official statement has been issued, it is learned the majority of members see many difficulties in the way of arranging the visit without incurring' financial loss.
