SHOP OWNERS UNDER ARREST

NAZIS ALLEGE ARSON (Received November 11, 9.50 p.m.) BERLIN, November 11. The official German news agency says that owners of Jewish shops in many towns have been placed under protective arrest.

It is alleged that a fire which completely destroyed the Jewish departmental stores of Bamberger and Hertz

at Leipzig was caused deliberately, either personally or by agents, to secure the insurance money. The owners have been taken into custody on suspicion. The central Jewish organization in Germany has telegraphed to the Government its condemnation of the attack on Dr von Rath.

In Paris a magistrate has ordered Herschel Grynszpan, the young Polish Jew who shot Dr von Rath, to be medically examined.
