SOUTHLAND GIRL GUIDES
ANNUAL MEETING OF ASSOCIATION WORK FOR PAST YEAR REVIEWED The work done by the Southland Gill Guides’ Association during the past year and the work it hoped to accomplish in the coming year were discussed yesterday at the annual meeting of the association. Miss C. L. Cumming presided. There was a good attendance. In formally moving the adoption of the annual report, Miss Cumming said it would be noticed that there was a slight decrease in numbers. This seemed to be largely caused by a lack of Guiders. The children were there, but the difficulty was to find people who were able and willing to give the necessary time for the work of Guiding. The executive could, perhaps, endeavour to find persons to act as Guiders. It was a pity, too, that there were so many Guiders who did not hold warrants. Commissioners should try to persuade their Guiders to sit the examination for warrants. Miss Cumming also thanked the executive for the work it had done.
Congratulations to those responsible for the success of the year’s work were extended by Mrs J. N. Armour in seconding the adoption of the report. The report (already published) and balance-sheet were adopted.' The work of the secretary (Mrs A. C. Dickens) was praised by speakers. The election of office-bearers result-
