NONSENSE POEMS
—VERY HIGHLY COMMENDED— While wandering in the field one day, A timid little bull Met a fierce-loo'king'maid, * And felt so very much afraid. The bull, a dainty little thing, With hair in plaits of brown, Just looked the maiden up and down, Then turned around and fled. —3 marks to Cousin Valerie Fox (8), 57 Conyers street —HIGHLY COMMENDED— Soft warm hailstones fall in spring, Flying worms on everything,Big black sheets of greyish mist, Mussels the stars have kissed, The song of a tiger upon a tree, Resting at sunset on the sea, Crimson elephants among the corn. The cry of a ship at the dawn, _ A flaming moon on a jet black night, A wet wind blowing the elephant’s kite, ' The thunder peels the foam along, But best of all is the farmyard song.
