TERM OF IMPRISONMENT FOR WOMAN
CHARGES OF UNLAWFULLY USING INSTRUMENT (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, October 28. Three years’ imprisonment with hard labour was imposed by Mr Justice Quilliam in the Supreme Court today on Marjorie Pickering, aged 42, who was found guilty by a jury on two charges of unlawfully using an instrument with intent to procure a miscarriage. When sentence was imposed the accused cried: “What about my children,” and was assisted weeping from the dock.
