THE MATAURA VALLEY COMPETITION BRYDONE BEATS WYNDHAM Playing at Wyndham in the Mataura Valley Tennis Association’s competition, Brydone beat the Wyndham No. 1 team by seven games, the sets being four all. Following are the results, with Wyndham names’ first:— Men’s Doubles.—Gibson and Stewart beat N. Parker and T. Kennedy, 6-2; McKay and Sheehan beat W. Titchener and A. Johnstone, 6-4. „ Women’s Doubles.—Misses M. Dynes and S. Strang lost to Misses M. Drysdale and E. Moore, 0-6; Mrs A. McCaughan and Miss J. Munro lost to Miss C. Hay and Mrs Lambie, 3-6. Combined Doubles. —Gibson and Miss Dynes beat Parker and Miss Drysdale, 6-5; Stewart and Miss S. Strang lost to Kennedy and Miss Moore, 4-6; McKay and Mrs McCaughan lost to Titchener and Miss C. MENZIES FERRY BEATS GLENHAM The match between Glenham and Menzies Ferry resulted in a win for Menzies Ferry by five sets and 41 games to three sets and 33 games. Results, with Glenham names first, were: Men’s Doubles.—Melvin and Ferguson beat Baird and Evans, 6-2; Bennie and Smyth beat Matheson and Foxon, 6-4. Women’s Doubles.—Mrs Melvin and Miss Marjorie Hunter lost to Misses Newman and Henderson, 3-6; Misses Hunter and Rabbidge beat Mrs Bulling and Miss Patterson, 6-5.
