The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company’s steamer Mahia has had its itinerary altered to include Bluff as Its final port. She is due here on November 3 from Lyttelton and is expected to sail for London, via Falkland Islands. Montevideo and Teneriffe, on November 4. She will load meat, cheese, wool and tallow at this port.

Union Company’s liner Maunganui reached Bluff yesterday morning from Wellington and sailed again in the aftemoon with cargo and passengers for Melbourne. She is due to arrive there on MondayThe National Mortgage and Agency Company advises that the steamer Fordsdale is now due at Bluff about November 8 from Lyttelton and will sail for New Plymouth about November 11. The Union Company’s intercolonial steamer Karetu, undergoing overhaul and at Port Chalmers, came out of dock on Tuesday and berthed at the Union Company’s wharf. . t The Union Company’s Kauri is to load at Edithburg and Adelaide at the end of the month and is to complete at Melbourne for Bluff, Dunedin, Timaru'and Lyttelton. The Port Line motor-ship Port Townsville, from Liverpool, via northern ports, is due at Dunedin on November 2 to c ° m " tinue discharge. She is later to go to New Plymouth to complete. The Bank Line vessel Forresbank was to leave Nauru island on Tuesday with phosphate for discharge at Lyttelton, Ravensbourne and Dunedin. She Is due at Lyttelton on November 7 and at Ravensbourne on November 9. t The New Zealand Shipping Company s liner Ruahine, Homeward bound from Wellington, arrived at Panama on Saturday, and sailed from Colon on Sunday. She is due at London on November 8. H. L. Tapley and Company (Dunedin) advises that the steamer Bencruachan has been chartered by George H. Scales Ltd., to load wool at Dunedin for London and the -Continent. She is due at Picton on December 12 and is to continue loading at Napier, Gisborne. EMPIRE’S FASTEST FERRY STEAMER On September 9 there arrived in Sydney the South Steyne, the fastest ferry steamer in the Empire, which is to be used on the run between Circular Quay, in the heart of Sydney, and Manly, the large and attractive residential suburb and holiday beach near the northern entrance to Sydney’s beautiful harbour. ’The South Steyne came out to Australia under her own steam from Leith where she was built and she’ is to make her- regular trips between Sydney and Manly at a speed of 17 knots. She can carry 2000 passengers on this lovelytrip across Sydney Harbour. This is 400 more than the largest ferry steamers now in the service. The South Steyne was brought out to Sydney from Scotland by Captain R. M. Beedle. an English master. Manly is one of the most famous surf bathing beaches in Australia.
