RANUI RETURNS FROM MILFORD
SHIP’S ARRIVAL EAGERLY AWAITED AT SOUND
After a good run down the coast, the Ranui arrived at Bluff from Milford Sound last evening. On Sunday morning she left Stewart Island, where she had been sheltering since her departure from Bluff because of bad weather and continued up the coast, reaching Puysegur Point at 11 o’clock that night. Mails were dropped and she sailed the next morning, arriving at Milford Sound at 10 o’clock that night On Tuesday the Ranui discharged her cargo. The ship’s arrival had been eagerly awaited at the sound as supplies were running short at the camps because of the delay in the vessel’s arrival. The stock of benzine was exhausted and the men were short of several lines of foodstuffs. The Ranui sailed at 1.30 o’clock on Wednesday morning and reached Preservation Inlet at 8 o’clock that night. She left again at 5.30 o’clock yesterday morning and berthed at the ferry wharf at 7.45 last night.
