WOMEN’S DIVISION

INVERCARGILL BRANCH The monthly meeting of the Invercargill branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held in Hanan’s Hall. Mrs McKenzie presided over a fair attendance. Motions of sympathy were passed with Mrs Wilson and with the relations of the late Mr John Miller. It was reported that the sale in September had resulted in the sum of £5 9/- being added to the funds of the branch. It was decided to celebrate the birthday of the branch by holding a social afternoon next month in the hall. Question Box supplied the roll call for the day. Mrs Randle gave a talk un the raising of seedlings, the growing of outdoor tomatoes and the growing of nw.eetpeas for show. The winner of the “Best Flower” competition was Mrs Randle. HOKONUI BRANCH The Hokonui branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union met in the Public Hall. The president, Mrs H. Anderson, presided over a good attendance of members. The roll call was “The greatest invention of man.” Mrs Cox, Winton, gave a short talk

on the women’s educational week. The next meeting, which is to be a combined one at Browns, will consist of a baking competition for young women only, melting moments, and best hand-worked linen table centre and a demonstration on first aid. The hostesses for the afternoon were Misses N. Patterson and M. Smith.
