DEATH OF FIREMAN AT BLUFF

INQUEST OPENED AND ADJOURNED An inquest'into the death of Walter Haven Molloy, a married man, aged 30, the fireman who lost his life during the fire at Bluff on Tuesday morning, was opened in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday afternoon before the Coroner (Mr R. C. Abernethy, S.M.). Evidence of identification was given by William Fanning, superintendent of the Bluff Fire Brigade, and the inquest was adjourned sine die. Business premises and offices at Bluff were closed for an hour yesterday afternoon as a mark of respect to Mr Molloy, whose funeral took place yesterday. A big “crowd watched the passing of the funeral.

The coffin was borne to the cemetery on the fire engine, surmounted by wreaths and resting on the Union Jack. On either side of and behind the engine walked members of the Bluff Fire Brigade. Thirty-four cars followed the hearse.
