RAIN PROBABLE (Special to The Times) WELLINGTON, October 26. Following is the special weather forecast for Southland, issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington:— Moderate north-east to north-west winds, freshening at times. Weather dull and, in places, misty, with ram probable. Mild temperatures. Seas rather rough to rough. Following is the Dominion forecast:— Weather fair to cloudy at first, but becoming overcast with mist or fog at many places. Rain developing in northern and western districts by tomorrow and becoming fairly general within about 2* hours. Temperatures mild to warm. General Situation.—An anti-cyclone is centred north of the Bay of Plenty, but is moving away eastward. A depression covers the Tasman with low pressure centres in both the northern and southern portions. Winds.—Moderate to strong northeast to northerly winds, rising to gale force in some exposed positions. Seas.—New Zealand waters, becoming rather rough to rough in most parts; eastern Tasman Sea, strong northerly winds, reaching gale force in places, seas rather rough to rough.

Constable J. Robertson, who has been transferred to Geraldine from Bluff, left for the north by motor-car yesterday. Constable B. S. Parkes is temporarily in charge of the station at Bluff and Constable A. Cromie, of Invercargill, is relieving.

The weather in Invercargill yesterday was fine and warm. The sun shone brightly at intervals throughout the day, and a light westerly wind was blowing. . ’ .
