TRACK WORK AT WINGATUI FAST SPRINT BY LORD NUFFIELD A shower overnight freshened up the tracks at Wingatui without making them any slower, and both the plough and centre of the course, proper were available for fast work, which was carried out under ideal conditions on Thursday morning, states The Evening Star, Dunedin. Gold Don rain seven furlongs on the plough in Imin 40 3-ssec, easing up over the latter part of the journey. On the same track Janet Gaynor was going slightly better than Roseman at the end of six furlongs in Imin 19sec, the first three in 38sec. Attractive Note finished just in. front of Gusto and Song Boy in a similar task in Imin 19sec, the first three in 39sec. Norseman completed a circuit on the same track by sprinting home the last three furlongs in 34 3-ssec. Gay Vixen reeled off five furlongs in Imin 6sec, and has sharpened up during the past week. Made Money, looking very well, cantered about seven furlongs, then sprinted home about two furlongs. He appeared to pull up sound, but when seen after having cooled down was lame behind. On the inside grass track Lord Nuffield just beat Our Pal over seven furlongs in Imin 28sec. This track is easily the fastest at Wingatui, but even making full allowance for that, the gallop was one of the best seen at Wingatui this season. Nightwings jumped away from the mile post on the same track and was picked up by Hanlon after going three furlongs, and they finished on even terms in Imin 6 l-ssec. Valantua was sent seven furlongs, also on this track, and after taking 56sec for the first four furlongs completed the task in Imin 33sec.
