Mr Hamilton Pleased With Wallace COMMENT ON BETTING ON ELECTION “We are very hopeful of the result of the election,” said the Hon. Adam Hamilton, Leader of the National Party and candidate for Wallace, during an address to electors at Mandeville yesterday afternoon. “I have covered most of the Wallace electorate and I must say the atmosphere is pleasingly good/ - he added. “We have been honoured with visits from Ministers of the Crown and the Prime Minister has been to Invercargill. Mr Fraser, the Minister of Education, is in Invercargill today and ‘I believe Mr Nash, the Minister of Finance, will follow him. Apparently we are privileged. It shows that they think it necessary to give support to my opponent but I am not afraid of them. Let them all come, I will take them on single-handed. (Applause.) “Only last night at Nightcaps I learned that the betting on Labour’s chances of being returned to the Treasury Benches were not considered as good as earlier in the election,” said Mr Hamilton. “Our opponents were giving' ‘points in,’ but you can’t get a bet at all now. At Nightcaps I learned that some of the Labour supporters now wanted 1000 votes in before they would bet.” (Laughter.)
