EASTERN DISTRICT TITLES MOKOIA PLAYER’S SUCCESS The Eastern District golf championships were decided on the Wyndham links in fine weather yesterday, two stroke rounds being played. A brilliant round of 72 in the morning gave H. Willcocks (Mokoia) a big lead on the championship field, and although he took nine strokes more in the afternoon he had the very useful aggregate of 153. The nearest anyone could get to that was 158, A. P. Gibson (Wyndham) doing a pair of 79’s. i P. B. Barnett (Wyndham) was round in 75 in the afternoon, but had spoiled what chance he had by taking 85 in the morning. The B grade title went to a Wyndham competitor, V. Milne, who also had five strokes to spare. Like Willcocks, Milne put himself in a strong position with a good round in the morning,' his score of 80 giving him a lead of sb» strokes. M. C. Rice,, also of Wyndham, was the runner-up. Medal handicaps were played in conjunction with the championship rounds, and at the close of the day’s play the trophies were presented by Mr S.
