BOXING

GILDO BEATS AITKEN (United Press Association) AUCKLAND, September 26. A professional lightweight boxing contest between Billy Aitken, of Wellington, and Young Gildo, of Honolulu, was won by the latter on points at the end of 12 three-minute rounds. This was the third meeting of the pair, Aitken having won on points on two previous occasions.

The bout, which was witnessed by a crowd which almost filled the Town Hall, was disappointing in many respects. Gildo did most of the attacking, but his continual boring-in tactics detracted from the spectacular nature of the fighting. He appeared to realize that his only hope was at infighting and with head down he charged into his opponent and registered his points with taps to the body and on either sidg of the head.
