LACK OF AGREEMENT IN DISPUTE

CRITICISM OFFERED BY MR JUSTICE O’REGAN (United Press Association) AUCKLAND, September 12. Criticizing in strong terms the fact that so little was done in the Conciliaton Council towards thfe settlement of an industrial dispute, Mr Justice O’Regan, in the Arbitration Court today, directed that the matter should be referred back to the parties for further consideration. Nothing of importance appeared to have been settled, Mr Justice O’Regan said. “We feel it absurd that the parties could not come closer together before entering the Court,” he said. “When the fixture was made we were told it would last only one day. Here we are confronted with a two-day job and I confess I am disappointed.” Complaints about the delay in the Court work were being made all over the country, he added. The Court was doing its best and he -seriously asked for the co-operation of both parties.
