A decision to forward to the North Canterbury executive of the Farmers’ Union for its consideration and comment the recommendations that the oat industry be subsidized by the Government to show a reasonable return over the cost of production until a reduction was made in costs, and that the Government prohibit importation of oats until a payable price was reached in New Zealand, was made by the Southland provincial executive of the union at its monthly meetine.
