SYDNEY’S WATER SUPPLY LOW
HOSES ALLOWED FOR FIRES ONLY RAINFALL BELOW NORMAL FOR 18 MONTHS (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright) (Received August 10, 10.15 p.m.) SYDNEY, August 10. Sydney’s water supply is getting so low that it is causing official anxiety. The shortage is the result of underaverage rainfall for 18 months. Severe restrictions have now been imposed, precluding the use of hoses for any purpose except fires. No new sewerage reticulations are allowed.
