EXPERIMENTAL FARM The manager’s report for the month of June for the Winton Experimental Farm states that the pastures are as good as can be expected for this time of the year. The sheep are being fed on turnips, hay and chaff, and turnips have been carted out daily to 350 ewes. For the month 15 tons of swedes have been cut for 118 odd ewes. The trial sheep, 120 ewes, consumed twelve and a-half tons of swedes for the month—no hay or chaff being fed. Nine sheep have been replaced in the trials, eight culls and one death. The ploughing of the leas has been completed. RAINFALL According to observations taken at the Winton Experimental Farm, rain fell on 17 days during the month of June, with a maximum fall of ,50in. on the 13th. The total fall for the month was 2.87 in. EUCHRE TOURNAMENT Twelve tables were occupied at the Returned Soldiers’ Association’s weekly euchre tournament. The women’s prize was won by Mrs J. Harvey and the men’s by Mr E. Ritchie.
