rough, but moderating. Following is the Dominion forecast:— Weather- mainly fair to fine, but intermittent rain in far southern districts and extending along _ the east coast to beyond Cook Strait. Scattered showers also in far northern areas. Temperatures cold, with some

sharp frosts. General Situation.—Though the _ pressure has risen since yesterday it is still relatively low and a shallow secondary depression has been crossing the South Island today. An anti-cyclone covers south-eastern Australia. Winds.—Light to moderate and variable from Canterbury northwards, with north-west to south-east predominating, but a change to moderate to strong southerlies advancing from the south. Seas.—New Zealand waters, rough but decreasing north of Cape Egmont and rough south of Dunedin, elsewhere slight to moderate, but later rising on the East Coast and in the Cook Strait area; eastern Tasman Sea, light to fresh southerly winds and moderate seas.
