RETIRING MEMBERS RE-ELECTED

VACANCIES ON SOUTHLAND EDUCATION BOARD Only the retiring members were nominated for re-election to the four vacant seats on the Southland Education Board and it was announced last evening by the returning officer (Mr H. T. Thompson) that they had been declared elected. The re-elected members and the districts they represent are as follows:— Invercargill urban area.—Mr F. G. Stevenson. Central ward.—Mr James Hargest, M.P. West ward.—Mr James Campbell. East ward.—Mr Hugh Smith. The electors for each ward and for the urban area were the members of the school committees in the several wards and in the urban area. Nominations closed with the returning officer at the Education Board’s office at 5 p.m. yesterday.
