AIRCRAFT CARRIER AS “HOODOO SHIP”
MISHAPS PREVENT DEPARTURE FROM DEVONPORT LONDON, June 19. The aircraft carrier Furious is regarded as a “hoodoo” ship because of various mishaps which have prevented her leaving Devonport after refitting when a water-pipe in the steering gear burst.
The Admiralty denied any suggestion of sabotage and added that such a defect often occurred after repairs.
