JAPAN ACCUSED OF. DRUG TRAFFIC
CHINESE ALLEGATION AT GENEVA (By Radio from the League of Nations, Geneva; issued by the Prime Minister s Department) (Received June 20, 7.20 p.m.) GENEVA, June 17. The advisory commission on the traffic of opium and other dangerous drugs examined reports by the governments on the drug situation. The position in the Far East aroused a long discussion, the Chinese representatives accusing Japan of encouraging an illicit traffic and the clandestine manufacture of drugs in the Chinese territory under Japanese occupation. , The Japanese representatives demed the charges, but several speakers, especially the United States representative, insisted on their gravity. The commission will draw up a resolution.
